Build the engine with us.
A small team. Strong opinions. More books read collectively than is probably healthy. We hire slowly and carefully.
What we look for
cultureWe read. We expect you to.
Not as a quirky culture note — as a functional requirement. Building tools for fiction authors requires understanding what makes fiction work. We read widely and talk about it constantly.
Strong opinions, loosely held.
We want people who have a point of view and can defend it clearly — and who change their mind when the evidence warrants it. Wishy-washy consensus doesn't ship good product.
Craft over velocity.
We move deliberately. We'd rather ship one thing that's right than three things that are almost right. Quality of execution is a value, not a constraint.

We're a small team and we intend to stay that way. When we do hire, it tends to be for one of these areas:
If you think you belong here, send a note anyway. Tell us what you'd build and what you're reading.
Send a note →"We hire for the person, not the role. The right person will find their place — or make one that didn't exist before they arrived."
